GREEN ROOF: A Requisite for Developed India

Mr. Vivek Dubey

The goal of the presentation is a testament to the general public, professionals and government institutions of the benefits that green roofs have on quality of life in an urban environment in context of India. This poster presentation will focus on both the insulating properties of green roofs and on how they can contribute to reducing the carbon footprint of the buildings through a drastic reduction of energy inputs for their conditioning on the management of rainwater harvesting. Although various green roof standards provide guidelines but information on the technology is sorely lacking and goals set need to be achieved. The exact composition is determined by the type of plants to be grown, the climatic conditions, weight loads and drainage requirements. Achieving a correct mix that addresses the requirements of climatic conditions is crucial for its success leading to a sustainable tomorrow.
