Dr. Young Ma received his Doctor of Philosophy in Organic Chemistry at Shanghai institute of technology in 2013 and B.S. degree in Applied chemistry from Hashing University of Science and Technology (HUST) in 2008. He is working on the Ni-catalyzed Suzuki coupling in the laboratory of Professor Jin Nye. Upon completion of his doctoral studies on the total synthesis of several complex natural glycoconjugates at Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry (SIOC) under the supervision of Professor Biao Yu, he joined the laboratory of Professor Chuo Chen to study the synthesis of natural alkaloids as well as bio probes in the study of Biological processes. In July 2015, he moved to UC San Diego to conduct medicinal chemistry research on Rpn11 inhibitors in professor Cohen’s lab. His research interest focuses on: 1) Target-oriented synthesis of structurally unique and biologically significant glycoconjugates and alkaloids 2) Development of inhibitors of metalloproteinase 3) Medicinal and mechanistic studies of anticancer and anti-virus drugs.
